A talk program on "Political & Social status of women in Russia & Nepal"

04 March 2008, Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Russia Friendship Association jointly organized a talk programme on "Political and Social Status of women in Russia and Nepal” . The programme was organized to mark the International Women's Day. Different women activists said that the rights of women will remain overshadowed unless the state guarantees their social, political, economical and legal rights to the women. Advocate Binda Pandey presenting a paper shedding light on the crucial role of women's movement in brining change in the society from now and the then Panchayat and Rana regime. Tatyana V .Novikova of Russian Centre of Science and Culture said the government should guarantee the legal, social, political and economic rights of women to uplift the women's empowerment. Minister-Counselor of Russian Embassy Igor Garivichev lauded the contribution of women's movement in bringing change in the society and added that the society should bring the potentialities of women and men together to bring change in the society. A talk program on "Unity in all Races & Nationalities"

19 March 2008, Russian Centre of Science and Culture and People to People Nepal jointly orClick to enlargeganized a talk programme "Unity in all Races and Nationalities: Basic Need for Peace and Development " to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is declared by the United Nations aiming to eliminate all kinds of existing discrimination in the world. People from various walks of life urged on the need of immediate end of all kinds of existing discrimination based on gender, sex, religion, caste and creed. Speaking on the occasion Counselor/Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr. Vladimir V. Novikov said that the Nepal and Russia does not have any racial problems but, wherever it exists we should talk about fighting against such inhuman act. A talk program on "Nepal in the eyes of Russian Mountaineers"

25 March 2008, Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Mountaineering AssoClick to enlargeciation jointly organized a talk program "Nepal in the eyes of Russian Mountaineers" Speaking at a talk program Oleg Fyodorov, Russian mountaineer who paid visit to Nepal for more than dozen shared his experience which he attempted expedition then and now. He also remembered the contribution and expedition of late Sir Edmund Hillary and said people of Khumbu district take him as a symbol of god and he not only introduce Mt Everest to the outer world but also assisted in the development of Nepal without any vested interest. . Chairman of Nepal Mountaineering Association Aang Tsering Sherpa said the major challenges in the mountains are the accumulation of human waste and the global warming has brought various problems by forming glaciers lakes, which in turn bring disaster in future to the mountain and people living in mountain region. Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V. Novikov said the Russian mountaineer Oleg Flyodorov is touched with the mountains of Nepal and his life is dedicated to the expedition of the mountains all over the world. Meanwhile in yet another talk program at Kathmandu University on the same day organized by Kathmandu University, Russian academician and Cosmos Scientists Dr Vladimir Nikitinsky said at present context development of communication is impossible without satellite and in a reply to a question he said that the scientists had stationed Space Research Centre at the moon. A literary evening to remember Maxim Gorky

26 March 2008, a literary evening was organized jointly by Russian Centre of Science anClick to enlarged Culture and Nepal-Russia Literary Association to commemorate Gorky and his life and works on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Russian writer Maxim Gorky on Wednesday. Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V. Novikov said that he was happy to know those Russian litterateurs and their works are well known in Nepalese literary society and said, the new generation can learn many things from the works of Gorky. Addressing a program, coordinator of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Ludmila Sakhova highlighted on the life and works of Gorky and the obstacles he face after the death of his marital grandparents. She also spoke about the contribution of Gorky in Russian literature and to the world. She said that most of the characters portrayed in his literary works are not imaginary but Click to enlargeresembles his real life. Novelist and Journalist Narayan Dhakal said the literary works of Gorky has been influenced by his social and political revolution and added that Nepali littérateurs are also influenced by the works of Gorky. Associate Professor of Kathmandu University Jangam Chauhan gave the short biography of Gorkey and said that he was not only a literary figure in the world but also struggled to bring revolution in the society. Despite many hindrances and challenges, he did not give up his hope in writing and living respectful life.
