One-week long Children’s Drama Festival at RCSC Kathmandu - 1st March

Russian Center of Science & Culture celebrated the first day of spring 2010 with the opening of One-week long Children’s Drama Festival in association with Shailee (The Style). During the festival, different theatre groups including Shaillee, Sath Sath, Valley View English School theatre group, Serene Valley School theater group performed different drama shows based on the stories of Russian and Nepalese writer.
On March 01, first day of the festival, well-known Nepali poet, play-wright and an essayist Abhi Subedi lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the start of the week. Addressing the programme, A. Subedi said that Shailee has played a major role from its establishment to acquaint the Nepalese audience with Russian culture, history and traditions.

RCSC held a meeting with Russian Compatriots in Nepal - 6th March

Russian Center of Science & Culture held a meeting with the members of Association of Russian Compatriots in Nepal (Ivushka) on 6 March. Mrs. Tatiana Vaidya, RCSC Russian Language instructor coordinated the whole program. The children of Russian Compatriots greeted their mothers and gifted their drawings, crafts etc. During the programme, children also recited poems, sang songs, danced and played a drama. Concluding of one-week children's drama festival - 7th March

One-week long children’s drama festival was concluded on 7 March with a drama show performed by “Shailee – The Style” based on the story of the Great Russian author Leo Tolstoy. During the festival week, altogether 16 drama shows were performed by the different theatre groups including Shailee (The Style), Sath Sath, Valley View English School theatre group, Serene Valley School theater group etc. The dramas were based on the works done by the famous Russian writers including Alexander Pushkin (Golden Fish/a fisherman and fish), Leo Tolstoy (fairy tales) and Nepalese writer Kartikeya Ghimire (Rupees Five) and others. Poetry recitation programme to mark International Women's Day - 8th March

Mitra Kunj and Women, Human Rights Rastriya Sanjal organized a poetry recitation programme to mark International Women’s Day on 8th March. Chief guest of the program was the Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bairagi Kaila. Other guests were the members of Mitra Kunj, representatives of the Nepal-Russia Friendship Society, members of the Association of Nepalese women, the leaders of several NGOs, compatriots, members of the public and journalists. During the programme, participants recited their own poems and sang songs to mark the International Women’s Day 2010.

A talk programme on "The End of World War II: Participation of Nepalese Soldiers" - 16th March

The chief guest of the function was Honorable Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister of Energy. Other guests of the programme were Damber Bir Thapa (President of People to People), President of Nepal National Army Ex-Servicemen Association Retd. General Shree Dhar Shamsher Rana and Retd. General Krishna Narayan Singh Thapa and Prof. Dr. Jitendra Dhoj Khad.

Books and Photo exhibition on "The Life and Works of Russian Writer Maxim Gorky" in RCSC - 19th March

Click to enlargeRussian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu organized Books and Photo exhibition on "The Life and Works of Russian Writer Maxim Gorky" on 19th March 2010 at RCSC Kathmandu. Chief Guest of the programme was the President of Nepal-Russia Literary Association Prof. Tejeshwor Babu Gongah. He lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the start of the two-week exhibitions. Addressing the programme, he also said that these exhibitions would provide the opportunity to learn more about Russia, its culture, history and People. He also talked about the life and works of the Great Russian Writer Maxim Gorky. More >>

RCSC Visit to Nepalese Military Museum - 25th March

AIT Alumni Association of Nepal supported by HIMCCA (Himalayan AlliancClick to enlargee for Climate Change www.himcca.org) jointly organized a talk programme on “The Challenge of Climate Change: In a post Copenhagen Environment moving to a low carbon society”. The programme was held in association with Russian Center of Science & Culture on 25 February at RCSC Kathmandu.

Chief Speaker of the programme was the Vice President of Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Bindu Nath Lohani. He presented a paper on the topic and mainly focused on the problems of the climate change and its settlement through a slide presentation.
