The exhibition of Paintings (Reproduction) - 3rd November

On Click to enlarge3rd November, the eve of the Day of National Unity, a month long exhibition of paintings by Russian Painter Ksenia Shilnikova was started in RCSC Kathmandu. The title of the exhibition was "Russia". Inaugurating the exhibition Dr. Tulsi Ram Vaidhya, Vice Chancellor of Lumbini University said that such regular exhibitions in RCSC can create opportunities for the people to learn more about the cultural diversity of both countries. He also added that visiting such exhibitions help the people to learn more about Russian nature, culture and people.

On the exhibition, people can see a vast view of Russia and at the same time they can feel that they are very close to Nepal.   More >>

RCSC Director's meeting with members of Russian compatriots in Nepal "Ivushka" - 4th November

On 4th November, a meeting was held between the RCSC Director Dr. Vladimir NClick to enlargeovikov, staff members and activists of the Association of Russian compatriots in Nepal "Ivushka" to mark the Day of National Unity.

Director of RCSC, Dr. Novikov told the participants about the World Conference of Russian compatriots held in Moscow. During the meeting he expressed the details of the Conference. He also added that during the conference it was decided to organize different activities in order to conserve and promoClick to enlargete the ethno-cultural "Space" of Russia around the world. According to him, nowadays this issue should be the most important subject for Russian compatriots in Nepal.

At the end of the program, a concert by "Sukarma" was organized in RCSC on the occasion of the Day of National Unity. Well known around the World, Nepalese band "Sukarma" has performed in many countries including Switzerland, Germany, Spain. During the concert, the band presented musical program from Nepali folk and classical compositions along with some Russian melodies.  More >>

A program to mark the Day of the glory of the Russian Army - 7th November

A photo exhibition is being displayed at Russian Centre of Science and Culture to the Nepal Army Personals on November 7th to mark the Day of Arm in Russia.

ThClick to enlargee photo exhibits the history of Russian army and their heroic deed during the II Great War and the present role of national army in Russia.

Speaking about the role of Russian army in Great War II, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov said the victory of Russia against Nazi Germany remained impossible if the Russian people and army have not sacrificed their life for the country.

Talking about the importance of the day of arms in Russia, he said every year the day is being commemorated with colorful parades of army with sophisticated warheads, and weapons.

The programme was followed by the feature film ‘Star’, the movie revolves around the causality in great patriotic war (1941-1945) depicting the tragic sacrifice and bravery of the Soviet Army. More >>

A literary evening to remember classical Russian writer Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev - 11th November

Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Russia Literary Association jointly organized a literary programme to mark the 190th birth anniversary Click to enlargeof the Russian poet, Playwright and author Ivan S. Turgenev.

Commemorating the life and works of Ivan Turgenev, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov said Turgenev wrote a lot on social issues like the social reform on provincial life during the 19th century. His novel fathers and sons depict the revolution about the generation gap between father and son.

He is the realistic writer of his time who brought the classical literature in practice by depicting the character occurred in the society with simplicity and virtues, Novikvov noted.   More >>

Seminar on "The rights of youth" in RCSC and inauguration of drawing exhibition - 14th November

Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Children’s Organisation (NCO) jointly organized a exhibition of paintings (Reproductions) drawn by Russian ChClick to enlargeildren titled “Russian Children Draw Cosmos” at Balmandir Naxal on Friday.

A total of 22 paintings drawn by the Russian children from the age of Click to enlarge6 to 17 were put on display. The paintings exhibit the space, orbital satellite depicting peace in their mind.

Speaking at the Programe Coordinator of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Arseny Starkov said the paintings would inspire the children of NCO to draw the same images in near future when RCSC will organise children competition.

President of NCO Reeta Vaidhya opined that the exhibition would help the children to learn and gain knowledge from it. The RCSC amidst the function distributed the lunch box to the children of NCO. A total of 183 orphans are living in Nepal Children organisation. The orphans are from of six days to 18 years of age. More >>

A friendly meeting with the members of Nepalese delegation
- 19th November

Russian Centre of Science and Culture organized a special meeting to tClick to enlargehe delegation heading to Moscow to participate in the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Russia-Nepal Friendship and Cooperation Society in Moscow which is scheduled to be held from November 23.

Speaking at the meeting Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov said the visit would help in strengthening the bilateral relations between both the countries in days to come. President of Nepal Russian Friendship Association Dr Bhagwan Ranta Tuladhar said that both the countries should more centralized on trade than aid. He further added that the visit would help to understand the culture, Russian life and people of Russia.

For Click to enlargethe past 45 years the RNF&CS has been actively working for the promotion and development of people to people relations between both the countries and to establish fruitful relationship between different intellectual groups from Nepal and Russia so that they could contribute in the overall development of the nations. Particularly the President of RNF&CS and the Cosmonaut Vladimir Djanibekov, who attempted 7 times successful space flight, presently the Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the RNF&CS are very strongly working to enhance the relations between Russia and Nepal. A talk program on "Research in Nepal and the possibility of Russian-Nepalese scientific and technological cooperation" - 25th November

Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and Russian Centre of Science and Culture jointly organized a talk program on "Research in Nepal and the possibility of Russian-Nepalese scientific and technological cooperation" at NAST Kathmandu on 25 November 2008.

At the programme, Nepalese scientists at NAST briefed about the research being carried out in Academy in different field like energy, biotechnology, agriculture technologies, and alternative energy sources. They also expressed their interest to carry research with Russian Scientists.

During the meeting with Director of Russian Cultural Center Dr. Vladimir Novikov, Vice Chancellor of NAST Prof. Dr. Hom Nath Bhattarai said that NAST shows a great interest in establishing contacts with the Russian Academy of Sciences. He also added that NAST is ready to initiate the necessary steps in order to achieve the direct cooperation with Russian scientists.  More >>>

Monthly press meeting at RCSC - 26th November

Russian Centre of Science and Culture orgnaised a press meet with the journalist to talk about the contemporary issues of Nepal and Russia. At the press meet, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov explained about the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev proposal to amend the existing constitution of Russia. Quoting the Medvedev, Novikov said “It’s an inevitable to amend the existing constitution of Russia for the social and economic development of Russia,” During the meeting they also discussed about the global economic crisis and its impact in Russia.
