An art exhibition "Still and Movement" - 2nd November

An art Click to enlargeexhibition entitled "Still and Movement" by the Russian artists Garry Zooh, Ekaterina Ivanova and Elina Figurina was organized at Russian Center of Science and Culture on November 2nd Monday. Head of Department of the Secretariat of the head of Federal Agency S.A Shapavolov participated in the inauguration of the exhibition.
The programme was followed by the drama "Swan Song" based on the play of Anton Chekhov. The drama was performed by the Shaili Theatre of RCSC.

Celebration of 30th Anniversary of RCSC in Nepal - 3rd November

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu organized an special pClick to enlargerogramme to celebrate the 30th anniversary of RCSC in Nepal on 3rd November.
Right Honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal addressing the programme said RCSC is familiar foreign organization established in Nepal which has always played a crucial role in strengthening and promoting culture and tradition of Russia in Nepal and vice versa. He also lauded the role of the then USSR in providing education and technical support in the development of education and infrastructure of Nepal.
DuriClick to enlargeng the programme, Mr. Shapavalov read out the greeting message from the Head of Federal Agency "Rossotrudnichestvo" Mr. F. M. Muhametshin to the participants of the solemn function on the occasion of 30 year of the Russian centre of science and culture in Kathmandu.
Addressing the programme, other distinguished guests also congratulated RCSC for its successful three decades in enhancing the cultural relationship between Nepal and Russia.
Dr. Vladimir Novikov Director of RCSC Kathmandu presented the certificate of appreciation to the staffs of RCSC who served the cultural center from the last 25 years.
The meeting was attended by former minister of Environment, Science & Technology Mr. Ganesh Shah, President of Mitrakunj (Association of Russian and CIS Universities graduates) Vishnu Bahadur Singh, President of the Nepal-Russia Friendship Society B. Tuladhar, heads of several NGOs, representatives from the Academy of Science and Technology of Nepal and Kathmandu University.

Solo Album released at RCSC Kathmandu - 6thNovember

Solo album "Herai" by Singer Suraj Basnet in association with RCSC was released on 6th November at Russian Center of Science and Culture. Renowned senior music Director Mr. Shambhujeet Banskota inaugurated the progromme by lighting the lamp (according to the Nepalese tradition).
Programme coordinator of RCSC Mr. Arseny Starkov welcome the invitees and shed light on the motives of declaring the year 2009 as a year of youth in Russia. He also said that RCSC has been organizing various programme to mark the year of youth. The album "Herai" was produced by Time Music.

Meeting with Nepalese graduates from Peoples' Friendship University of Russia - 11thNovember

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu held a meeting with Nepalese graduates from Peoples' Friendship University of Russia on 11th NovembClick to enlargeer. Ministers of Nepal government, head of the Universities and colleges, doctors, engineers, writers who were graduated from the Russian university took part in the meeting.

During the meeting, graduates remembered their time which they spent in the Russian University. The Russian University has played a major role in the preparation of Nepalese professionals and specialists who now occupy prominent positions in various spheres of public life. More >>

A week long painting exhibition "From Russia with love" - 25thNovember

Click to enlargeRussian Center of Science and Culture organized a week long exhibition of Paintings "From Russia with Love" by Russian artist Mr. Valentin Skachkov (St. Peterburg) who is also a member of the Union of Russian Artists, on 25 NClick to enlargeovember 2009. Speaking about the exhibition, Valentin said "I came to Nepal to make Nepalese more familiar with the beauty of my birth city St. Petersburg, its people and traditions through my works".
A total of 31 creative arts of Valentin were displayed in the exhibition that depicts the traditional art and culture of Russia including the beauty of St. Peterburg city, portraits of the inhabitants of the northern capital of Russia, artistic view of Russian village and different landscapes.

Fruit Festival at RCSC Kathmandu - 25thNovember

Russian Centre of Science and Culture organized a  harvesting fesClick to enlargetival at the premises of the cultural centre on 25th November. Russian compatriots, noted personalities visited the premises to observe and taste the fruits picked in the RCC garden. All the fruits and vegetables exhibited in the festival were cultivated in the Cultural Center's premises. This year monsoon also helped for good production of fruits and vegitables 9n RCC premises. During the festival, different local vegetables and fruits were also exhibited which  were provided by the co-workers of the center. Member of Russian Language study group Svyatoslav Starkov picked up the first fruit of the festival from the Center's garden. Oranges, Tangerine, Lemons, Bananas, Radishes, Pumpkins etc. were exhibited and tasted.
The function was covered in few Nepalese TV channels.
