First Look Clinic on Microsoft Windows 7 at RCSC - 11th January

Click to enlargeRussian Center of Science & Culture (RCSC), iWorld Technologies and Microsoft Market Development Partner (MDP) Nepal jointly organized one-day “First Look Clinic on Windows 7” on January 11, 2010. More than 100 participantsClick to enlarge took part in the programme including IT professionals, employees from different diplomatic missions, teachers and students from different IT institutions.
Addressing the programme, program co-coordinator of RCSC Mr. Arseny Starkov shed light on the activities of Russian Center of Science & Culture in Nepal and also explained the main goals of Federal Agency “Rossotrudnichestvo”. While focusing on the IT status of Russia, Arseny told that there are approximately 63 million internet users in Russia. He also gave the information about the new domain ‘rf – Russian Federation’ to the participants.

Victory Day Celebration Organizing Committee Meeting - 14th January

Click to enlargeRussian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu organized a preparation meeting to mark the 65th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and the end of World War II on 14 January. The meeting was attended by the heads of the leading partner NGOs, and journalists.
During the meeting, participants discussed on organizing a series of joint programs dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory Day and the end of World War II. Addressing the meeting, Director of RCSC Dr. Vladimir Novikov talked about the traditions of celebrating this important occasion in Russia.

Program to mark the 50th Anniversary of PFUR at Ambition Academy - 21st January

A celebration program to mark the 50th Anniversary of People's Friendship University of Russia was organized at Ambition Academy on 21st January 2010. The University was widely known both in Russia and abroad.
Program coordinator of RCSC, Mr. Arseny Starkov gave detail information about the University to the college students and teaching staff. He shed light on the history of university and its teaching methodologies. More >>

Workshop on "Global Warming Climate Change & Power crisis" - 26th January

Russian Center of Science & Culture and National Federation of UNESCClick to enlargeO Clubs, Centers & Association of Nepal joint organized a workshop on "Global Warming Climate Change & Power crisis" on 26th January at RCSC.
Chief guest of the program was the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Mr. Indra Prasad Dhungel. Addressing the program, Mr. Dhungel said that the unpredictable climate change has become a big threat hanging over mankind. He also opined that the third world countries like Nepal has been affected badly by such global warming. He also talked about the participation of Nepalese delegates in the UN Summit on Climate change, which took place in Copenhagen.
Other speakers also had similar views and insisted on attempting such problems to prevent us from the predicted terrible future.
Director of RCSC, Dr. Vladimir Novikov expressed his views on the problem and said that the Gulf Stream is the main cause of such climate change.

Photo exhibition on the life of Anton Chekhov and a drama show - 28th January

Russian Center of Science & Culture organized a photo exhibition onClick to enlarge the life of Russian famous playwright and Story writer Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) to mark his 150th birth anniversary on 28th January at RCSC Kathmandu. Well-known Nepalese writers, poets, artists, journalists and students were invited in the programme. The exhibition has made an indelible impression on the guests at RCSC Kathmandu. Chekhov is well-known in the Nepalese literary society.
On the same day the Theatre Group – Shaili (the style) also presented a drama show “House with the Attic” in Nepali language to mark this day. The drama was based on the work of Chekhov. The programme was featured in local media.
