The Russian Federation has declared the year 200Click to enlarge9 as "Year of Youth". We are going to organize a series of events and programs dedicated to the youth policy of Russian government throughout the whole year 2009 on this occasion. Also these programs will show the glimpses of the present lives of young people in Russia.

You can learn more about the people of our country, its culture and traditions through our website. In the year 2009, it is planned to organize different literature evenings in RCSC to mark the Russian classical literature. We will continue to provide you with the information of significant events in history and contemporary life in Russia through our web site. We are waiting for your kind suggestions and feedbacks.

Interview of RCSC Director with Radio journalist - 3rd December

A meeting was held between RCSC Director Dr. Vladimir Novikov and chClick to enlargeief editor and staff members of radio station “Voice of peace and progress” (broadcast in Kathmandu and its surroundings) on 3rd December 2008.

During the scheduled interview, Director answered the several questions on the Year of Family in Russia, amendments to the Constitutions of the Russian Federation adopted as the suggestion of President D.A.Medvedev and Georgia-South Ossetia conflict.  More >>

Meeting on "Peoples' diplomacy and the Russian-Nepalese relations" at RCSC 8th December

A meClick to enlargeeting was held on “Peoples’ diplomacy and the Russian-Nepalese relations” at RCSC with the representatives of non-governmental organizations and partners of Russian Cultural Center.

Members of Nepal-Russia Friendship Association, Association of Friends of Russia (Graduates from Soviet/Russian Universities/Institutes) “Mitra Kunj”, Nepal Council of World Affairs, Nepal-Russia Cultural Association, National Federation of UNESCO (Clubs, Centers and Association of Nepal) and others were present during the meeting.

Representatives from the different NGOs presented their vision of improving the prospects of Nepal-Russia relations in the meeting. More >>

A talk programme on "Strict Observation of Human Rights: Basis of Democracy" - 9th December

RCSC Kathmandu jointly organized a talk programme on "Strict Observation of Human Rights: Basis of Democracy" with United Nations Association of Nepal on 09 December 2008 on the occasion of 60 years of Universal Declaration of Human RClick to enlargeights.

The main guests of the programme were Honorable Minister Mrs. Asta Laxmi Shakya, Minister of Industry of Nepal and the representative of the UN Commission on Human Rights in Nepal, Robert Benett.

Nepalese speakers of the programme talked about the history of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the contents of the International documents (pacts) which are gradually revised. They were also suggesting some Government institutions to strengthen the Human Rights situations in Nepal. During the programme, the recent progress with regard to the representation of marginalized people and women in government and management at different levels was noted. Speakers also stressed on the importance of human rights in order to maintain stability in the country.   More >>

Inter Higher Secondary Level Chess Competition 2008 at RCSC - 10th December

RCSC Kathmandu jointly organized two-day "Inter Higher Secondary Level Chess Competition - 200Click to enlarge8" with Ambition Academy on the occasion of Constitution Day of the Russian Federation on 10th December 2008.

Students from the different colleges from Kathmandu valley had participated in the chess tournament. Mr. I. Maharjan from National Chess Association (NCA) was invited as a judge of the tournament. Inaugurating the program, Mr. Maharjan said that this will be a good tradition to organize such tournaments between young players during the Russian national days. More >>

Memorable evening to mark the 90th birth anniversary of Alexander Solzhenitsyn - 16th December

Addressing a welcome speech Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov said Solzhenitsyn will remain a great writer of Russia for ever and the history will pay his dedication and hard work for his contribution in Russian iterature.

Former Ambassador to Russia, Lila Prasad Sharama said Novel prize winner Solzhenitsyn died of heart failure near Moscow on August 3, 2008, at the age of 89. A burial service was held at Donskoy Monastery,Moscow, on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. More >>

A Symposium on "Relationship between Republican Nepal & the Russian Federation: History & Prospects" - 24th December

Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu and Nepal-Russia Friendship Association jointly organized a symposium on "Relationship between Republican Nepal & the Russian Federation: History & Prospects" on December 24 in RCSC.

Participants of the program were the Ambassador of Russian Federation in Nepal A.L. Trofimov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Upendra R. Yadav, representatives of political parties, non-governmental organizations and businessmen.

During the program Minister Yadav said that Russia and Nepal has friendly relationship from all the time. He also added that Russia has provided political and economic support during the establishment of new Nepal. He also reminded that Nepal is in a complex process of forming a democratic society with a new constitution at present. In order to maintain the historic friendly relations, culture, education and tourism are the areas where remarkable progress can be achieved in the nearest future. In his speech, Ambassador of Russian Federation in Nepal A.L. Trofimov stressed that the relation between two nations has been verified by time as there is no any problems and controversial issues. He also added that the visions of two nations on a number of international political issues are rather similar. Russia supports the democratic movement of Nepal and is providing financial assistance through international organizations. He also said that the peoples' diplomacy plays a very important role in elevating the Russia-Nepal relations.

President of Nepal Russia Friendship Association Dr Bhagwan Ratna Tuladhar presented a paper on relationship between Republican Nepal and Russian Federation in quest of new approaches, academic dialogue and discussion on Nepalese foreign policy. He also sheds light on the bilateral relationship between Russia and Nepal and its kind cooperation to Nepal in process of development and peace process.

Representatives from parliament and business circles etc. also delivered their speech in the program. The Symposium was featured in electronic and paper media.

Christmas meeting in RCSC Kathmandu - 26th December

A meeting was held between executive representatives of Nepal-Russia Friendship Association, "Mitra Kunj", RCSC press clubs members in 26th December 2008 at Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu.

On the same day, representatives from "Mitra Kunj" talked about the works and programs organized by the Association throughout the whole year. They also expressed their plans for the coming year 2009. They also elected new president of "Mitra Kunj" Mr. Bishnu Bahadur Singh. Mr. Singh was graduated from Russian Friendship University. He is an Electric Engineer. In his short speech, Mr. Singh stressed on the mission of "Mitra Kunj" to maintain the smooth relationship between the people of two nations and to provide the Nepali people with correct information about the foreign and internal policy of Russian Federation. Welcoming Happy New Year – 2009 in RCSC Kathmandu - 27th December

Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu warmly welcomed children of RCSC families, friends and Russian compatriots on 27th December 2009 on the occasion of Happy New Year 2009.

During the program, a drawing competition was organized among the children. They also watched performances of circus artists as well as a puppet show on "The Red Flower". At the end of the program, Russian Santa Claus – "Grand Father Frost" arrived at RCSC by Rickshaw. He gathered all the children around the Christmas tree and presented the awaited gifts. Children recited different poems and also sang Christmas songs.  More >>
