Day of Pushkin Marked - 6th June

To mark the 210th birth anniversary of renowned writer Alexander Pushkin vice-ChancClick to enlargeellor of Kathmandu University and Tribhuwan University Suresh Raj Sharma and Madhav Sharma jointly released a poetry collection “The poem of Pushkin and Tutchev” translated by associate professor of Kathmandu University Jangam Chauhan. Organized by Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Russian Literary Association
The book comprises the thirteen poems of Alexender Pushkin and twelve poems of Russian Poet Tutchev. At the programme the short documentation about the life and works of Pushkin was screened. Speaking at the programme Russian Ambassador to Nepal Andrey L. Trofimov opined that the translation of book help a lot in strengtheniClick to enlargeng the cultural ties between both the countries but the translation of poetry of the poets in another language is very difficult job. Pushkin works has been translated in many languages but the first translation of Pushkin was in 1821 in France. Shedding light in the life and works of Pushkin and Tutchev, Ambassador said poet Tutchev consider himself as a professional diplomats instead of professional poets though Pushkin and Tutchev lived and worked together in the same environment.
Noted Nepalese littérateurs were presented in the programme.

Inter-School Chess Competition 8th June

Russian Center of Science and Culture organized a two day Inter-school Chess ComClick to enlargepetition to mark the Day of Russia. A total of 63 studens from 12 schools have participated in the competition.
Nabin Jaiswal of DeepJoyti Higher Secondary Boarding School won the Inter-School Chess Competition by getting six progressive point in six and final round of the match. While Rupesh Jaiswal and Tara Ghale of same school won the second and third position in the Inter-School chess competition organized by Russian Centre of Science and Culture to mark the Day oClick to enlargef Russia.
Likewise, Shanta Thapa of DeepJoyti Higher Secondary Boarding School and Bijaya Dongol of Annapurna Higher Secondary School respectively stood on fourth and fifth position in the competition. Similarly Krishna Dev Choudhary and Suraj Lohani of Greenland School, Sagar K.C, Ashwin Sapkota and Ashik Thapa of DeepJoyti Higher Secondary School grabbed the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth position in the competition.
Director of Russian Center of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V. Novikov presented the award and certificate to the winner.

A talk programme on “Internet Threats & Opportunities” 25th June

In an effort to provide awareness about the growing threats on Internet, Russian Center of Science and Culture organized a talk programme “Internet Threats & Opportunities” to mark the Year of Youth in Russia 2009.
Program Officer of RCSC Mr. Arseny Starkov welcomed the participants. At the programme President of Mitrakunj and Director of Project Development Department of NEA Mr. Vishnu Bahadur Singh said that the life of people will be halted and paralyzed without the access to Internet.
Webmaster of RCSC Kathmandu Mr. Sushil Upreti presented a paper on “Internet Threats & Opportunities”. During his presentation, he explained about the history and evolution of the Internet and also gave some idea about Internet Management. He explained about the latest Internet technologies and safety measures to be taken for secure Internet surfing. During the presentation, he also told about the opportunities of making money through the Internet. Mr. Upreti answered numerous questions from the audience after his presentation.

A literary evening dedicated to Anna Andreevna Akhmatova - 29thJune

A literary evening was organized to mark the 120th birth anniversary of the Greatest RuClick to enlargessian Poetess Anna Akhmatova (Gorenko) at Municipality building of Banepa City of Kavre District on 29th June. The programme was jointly organized by RCSC and Kathamndu University (KU) in association with the literary society “Janamat Sahitya Batika” of Banepa.
Programme Officer of RCSC Kathmandu Mr. Arseny Starkov stressed that the programme would help in enhancing cultural relationships between both the countries Nepal and Russia. During the programme Associate Professor of K.U Jangab Chauhan, Victoria Onufrieva and Kamana Dixit of RCSC recited the poems of Anna Akhmatova.

"Dubrovski" on the stage of RCSC Kathmandu - 30th June

The Theatre Group – Shaili (the style) in association with RussianClick to enlarge Cultural Center Kathmandu performed a drama show "Dubrovsky" to mark the 210th birth anniversary of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin at Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu on 30th June. Once again "Shaili" showed a brilliant performance on the stage of RCSC under the direction of Mr. Navaraj Budhathoki (Director of Shaili). The audience warmly applauded the performance of young artists and made the audience able to understand the relations between landlords and slaves. The drama show was accompanied by special effects that made the drama more realistic and added some excitement to more than 200 audiences as well.
The function was featured by some daily national news media.
