Several programs to mark the great Victory Day - 6th May

A series of program had been conducted in Russian Center of SciencClick to enlargee & Culture to mark the 64th anniversary of Victory Day. RCSC Kathmandu and History Association of Nepal jointly organized a talk program on "End of the World War II in the Far East-South Kuril Island & Russia-Japan Relations in the present" on 6th May to mark the day.
Director of RCSC Kathmandu, Dr. Vladimir Novikov was the main speaker of the program. He described how Soviet forces defeated Hitler and Japanese troops. Some documents on the postwar settlement made at Yalta (February, 1945) and Potsdam (June 1945) conferences had been presented during the programme through slideshows. He also told about the Russia-Japan relations at the present stage, especially Southern Kuril Islands issue and described the way that the Russian government has chosen on this issue.

Monthly press meeting at RCSC 15th May

Russian Click to enlargeCenter of Science and Culture (RCSC) organizes a monthly meeting with the Nepalese journalists. It has become a tradition of RCSC to organize such meetings on regular basis every month. This month's meeting was mainly focused on the issue of mountaineering. V. K. Kozaev (a Minister of Justice of Republic of North Ossetia-Alania of the Russian Federation), a renowned Russian lawyer and great Russian mountaineer was also attended in the meeting who had just arrived in Nepal with a group of Russian mountaineers. Literary and Musical evening to mark Victory in the Great Patriotic War - 20th May

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu and Nepal-Russia Literary Association jointly organized a literary and musical evening to mark 64th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on 20th May at RCSC Kathmandu.
Opening the programme, Director of RCSC Dr. Vladimir Novikov said that the Russian people fought against German invaders showing the Great bravery and selfless courage. He also added that the event was described by many Russian literatures in their works.
Prof. Dr. Jangab Chauhan, also a well-known interpreter of Russian literature, presented a paper on Russian war time poems and songs through audio visual materials and movies based on the Great Patriotic War. He also said that many remarkable literary works and songs had been composed during the terrible years of war, which are very popular till the date and will remain alive in future as well.

A talk programme on "The role of youth promoting Cultural Diversity for Dialogue & Development" - 21st May

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu and National FederatioClick to enlargen of UNESCO Clubs, Centres & Associations of Nepal jointly organized a talk programme on "The role of youth promoting Cultural Diversity for Dialogue & Development" on the occasion of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development in the context of the Year of Youth in Russia-2009 on 21st May. The Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and State Restructuring Mr. Chhabi Raj Pant was the chief guest of the programme.

Click to enlargeussia-2009. He mentioned that this was an important step in a long-term policy of the Russian government aimed at improving the social status of the young generation of Russia. He also described about the youth policy of Russia and how the Russian government works with youth throughout the country. Speaking at the function, he stressed that the Russian government, in spite of the economic crisis all over the world, will consistently pursue the policy of ensuring the young generation for better education and work to integrate the social and political life of the country. SOS HGS Sanothimi Students at RCSC - 25th May

In an effort to provide information about Russian language, culture, traditions, geographical and territorial knowledge about Russia and to mark the Year of Youth in Russia, Russian Centre of Science and Culture invited the students of Click to enlargeSOS Hermann Gmeiner Sanothimi and impart the details about the activities of Russian Cultural Centre.
Speaking at the function, Programme Coordinator of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Arseny Starkov opined that the objective of declaring the Year of Youth in Russia is to mobilize youth in the development of creative, scientific and professional capacity by actively participating in the social economical transformation of the country. It also aims to bring out the feelings of patriotism and civic responsibility among young people.
Amidst the function, staff of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Sushil Upreti presented the slide depicting about the politics, culture, language and geographical territory of Russia.

St. Petersburg says hello to Kathmandu - 26th May

A commemoration evening was held at Russian Center of Science & Culture to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the northern cultural capital of Russia- St. Petersburg. The programme was attended by Russian Compatriots in Nepal, representatives from "Mitra Kunj" and Nepal-Russia Friendship Association. Most of the participants had spent their major time in St. Petersburg.
Remembering the day, a historical movie about St. Petersburg was screened. Staff members of RCSC Kathmandu presented a slide show with beautiful and historical monument of St. Petersburg. During the show, the participants felt that they were visiting St. Petersburg.

Inter-College Exhibition of Science & Technology-2 - 27th May

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu organized a 2-days Inter-College Exhibition of Science & Technology-2 on 27 May on the occasion of the Year of Youth in Russia-2009. The participants of the exhibition were the students from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, as well as the students from different technical colleges/institutions of Kathmandu valley.
The programme was inaugurated by the former Minister of Environment, Science & Technology, Ganesh Shah. There was an official meeting between the guests and students. Professor of Norwegian Academy of Science & Technology B.K. Sitaula, Vice-rector of Kathmandu University B. Tuladhar and Principal of Ambition Academy Devi Ghimire, Principal of ACME Engineering College Er. Basanta Chandra Marahatta and Chairman of the ACME Engineering College Dr. Tara Pokherel took part in the programme. More >>

A drama show "Sarkari Nirikshyak - The Inspector General" by Shaili - 30th May

The Theatre Group – Shaili (the style) in association with Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu organized a drama show "Sarkari Nirikshyak" based on the drama "The Inspector General" by Nikolai Gogol on the occasion of the bi-centenary birth anniversary of Great Russian writer Nikolai Gogol (1809-1852) on 29th and 30th May. The drama was played second time in the same venue on demand of Nepalese public. More >>
