Programme to mark the 65th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War - 7th May

An Exhibition of Books and photos were inaugurated to mark the 65th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition includes the books about the war and rare collection of photographs taken during the war and after the war.
The exhibition was inaugurated by ex-president of Nepal-Russia Literary Association (NRLA), a graduate of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in 1983 who is a teacher of Russian language courses at RCSC and Professor of Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Balaram Aryal. In his speech, he spoke about how he joined Russian University. He also recalled his university days with foreign students and Russians celebrating the Victory day in Moscow. He also told about the participation of the Nepalese soldiers in World War II. He said that more than 2,40,000 Nepalese died in WWII.

Celebration of the Victory Day (May 9) - 15th May

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu / Mission of Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo (www.rs-gov.ru) in Nepal organized a celebration programmed dedicated to the 65th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) on 15 May at RCSC.
A slide presentation on “The Blockade / Siege of Leningrad” was presented by the members of Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu. On the same day, 100 Birth Anniversary of the Great Russian Poetess Olga Berggolts was marked by inauguration of photo exhibition on her life and works. She wrote most of her poems during the war time. During the program, Russian compatriots recited many of her poems along with her well-known words "... no one is forgotten and nothing is forgotten".

A visit to the National Museum of Nepal to mark the International Museum Day - 19th May

Staff members of Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu, Russian Compatriots and member of Mitrakunj jointly organized an excursion to the National Museum of Nepal to mark the International Museum Day on May 19 2010.

The National Museum of Nepal located on the way to Swayambhunath Hill was established in 1928 AD as an arsenal museum in the historical building which was constructed in early 19th century by General Bhimsen Thapa. More >>

Photo exhibition on "Hydro Power development in Russia and Nepal" - 25th May

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu and Mitra Kunj jointly organized a Photo exhibition "Hydro Power development in Russia and Nepal " to mark the 100th Anniversary of the First Hydro Power (Pharping Power House) establishment and 45th Anniversary of Panauti Hydro Power Station at Russian Center of Science & Culture, Kamal Pokhari, Kathmandu on 25 May 2010. The Panauti Hydro Power Station was built by the Soviet Union on a grant basis as a token of friendship with Nepal. More >>

The Drama Show "Sharap Pareko Desh" by Shaili Theatre Group (The Style) - 25th May

The Theatre Group – Shaili (the style) in association with Russian CClick to enlargeultural Center Kathmandu organized a long-awaited drama show "Sharap Pareko Desh” based on the two stories of the Great Russian writer Anton Chekhov "The Ward No. 6" and "Lizard" on May 28 at RCSC Kathmandu.
The audiences warmly applauded the performance of young artists. Young Director Navaraj Budhathoki brilliantly managed to convey the idea of Chekhov's stories to the viewers.
