A talk program to mark the Diplomatic Day in Russia

To mark the diplomatic Day in Russia, Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Council of World Affairs jointly organized a talk programme on “The role of diplomats in the present situation” on 11th February. At the programme various intellectuals and diplomats shed light on the role of Nepalese and foreign diplomats in the country and abroad. Highlighting on the role of diplomats in the present contexts they said that often ambassadors are politically appointed and the skill and knowledge required in performing diplomatic function are untested. Former Nepalese Ambassador to Russia Lila Prasad Sharma Lauding the role of Nepalese Click to enlargediplomats said that Nepalese diplomats have contribution in strengthening bilateral cooperation with immediate neighbors and with the major powers. While addressing keynotes points, Minister Counselor of Russian Embassy Igor S. Gavrichev brief that diplomats and international professional make suggestion in the leadership of the country. In a query of the role of Russian diplomats in the present context of Nepal, he said “I would recommend Russia to help in peace process in Nepal and to solve the existing problems of Nepal. Similarly, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V. Novikov said diplomats are mediator to maintain the friendly relation to extend development cooperation guided by the government policies. More >>

A program to mark the International Mother Language Day

To mark the International Mother Language Day, Russian Centre ofClick to enlarge Science and Culture and National Federation of UNESCO Association jointly organized a talk programme “The role of Government and NGOs for Developing Ethnic groups and languages” on 21st February. Various cultural experts and linguists said that language is the vehicle of the culture and each language of all indigenous and ethnic community should be respected and guided by the state. Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology Formullah Mansoor assured that the upcoming CA polls will solve all the existing problems of the people living in Terai and hills and added that the government would hold the CA polls respecting the aspiration of the people of every community. Culture Expert Satyamohan Joshi stress on the need of government’s serious attention in protecting language and culture of endangered ethnic groups like Raute, which is in the verge of extinction so as to enrich our culture and tradition. He said the government should conserve the entangled languages throughClick to enlarge documentation and in archeology so that it would be remained for our coming ancestors. Cultural Expert Chunda Brajacharya said though the interim constitution have provided equal rights to all the language and ethnic groups but it has not been implemented in practice. She asked the government to provide right to education in the mother tongue of the respective communities. Minister Counselor of Russian Embassy Igor S. Painting exhibition “Nepal in the eyes of Russian artists”

State Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative Nagendra Prasad Click to enlargeChoudhary inaugurated a week long exhibition entitled “Nepal in the eyes of Russian artists” by Russian artists Ms Natalya Zaitseva-Borisova and Mr Suren Ayvazyan on 25th Feb. 2008. A total of 20 paintings were put on displayed that incorporate nature with architectural heritage. As the title suggests the exhibition depict the panoramic beauty of Pokhara and Dhulikhel on the Canvas as captured by the eyes of the artists. Artists Natalya Zaitseva –Borisova had previously displayed her paintings exhibition “Holy Nepal” two years back. The Click to enlargeexhibition back then portrayed the tradition temple, heritage and culture of Nepal. The natural beauty of Nepal with its exotic Himalayan view lured her to come back to Nepal over and over again to display her works in canvas said artists Natalya Zaitseva- Borisova. Addressing the welcome speech, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Vladimir V. Novikov expressed his heartfelt gratitude to artists for choosing Nepal, a country rich in culture and heritage to display their arts. A talk program on "Social Policy of Government in Protecting Family and Motherhood"

In course of celebrating the Year of Family 2008 in Russia as declaredClick to enlarge by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Women for Human Rights (WHR) jointly organized a talk programme on "Social Policy of Government in Protecting Family and Motherhood" on 27th Feb. Chairperson of National Women Commission Ms. Nain Kala Thapa said the state would fail to address the rights of women and other ethnic groups unless it is restructured. She urged all the women to mark the National Women Day, voicing for their equal rights and gender equality in state mechanism. Advocate Kabita Pandey said the government laws and policies on protecting rights and equality for women has been limited to the paper and has not been implemented in practice. She said the government has not Click to enlargeyet been serious in providing employment opportunity and rights to education to the women and children affected by the decade long conflicts.
