Talk Programme on "Foreign Policy of Russia in the present context" - 9th Feb.

RCSC jointly organized a talk programme on "Foreign Policy of Russia in the present context" with Nepal Council of World Affairs (NCWA) on the occasion ofClick to enlarge the Diplomat’s Day of Russia on 9th February 2009 at Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu. The seminar was attended by members of the Nepalese parliament, representatives from the Embassy of Russia in Nepal, the heads of leading Nepalese NGOs, academicians, journalists and public.
The main speaker of the programme was Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Nepal Mr. Alexander Khozhin. He said that Russia operates proactively in the international arena with full consciousness of its responsibility and increased capacity. Russian foreign policy is based on a clear understanding of national interest, within a reasonable sense. He also added that Russia is ready to work constructively with other nations for mutual benefits. The new concept of foreign policy was approved by President Dmitry Medvedev with full continuity of previous one. More >>

Photo exhibition on "People of Russia" 12th Feb.

With an Click to enlargeaim to provide information about the laws and clause of youth in Russia, Russian Centre of Science and Culture organized a week long photo exhibition at Pathshala Nepal depicting culture, religion and panoramic beauty of Russia. The exhibition was organized to mark the year of youth in Russia.
On the occasion about more than 400 students of Pathshala Nepal keenly views the photos displayed in the exhibition.
Opening the exhibition programme coordinator of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Arseny Starkov highlighted on the programme launched by the Russian government to mark the year of Youth in Russia.

Meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nepal - 16th Feb.

A meeting was held between Russian businessmen and the President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Nepal Mr. Surendra Bir Malakar on 16th February 2009. The program was organized by Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu.
During the meeting, Russian businessmen gave full information about their business in Russia. The main objective of the visit was to explore business opportunities in both countries.
Mr. Malakar shared his interest on expanding trade and economic ties with Russia and added that both the countries are looking to cooperate with each other. Nepal is seeking support from its bilateral countries to help in celebrating the Year of Tourism in Nepal in 2011. Mr. Malakar informed that Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and Nepal signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Monthly press meeting at RCSC - 19th Feb.

Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC) organized a monthly meeting with the NepalesClick to enlargee journalists on 19th February. It has become a tradition of RCSC to organize such meetings in regular intervals.
The general topic of the meeting was important developments in the domestic life of Russia. During the meeting, particular interest was also expressed on the international economic crisis and its impact on Russia. They also discussed on the current developments in world politics.
There was also a photo exhibition to celebrate the Russian Armed Forces Day. Following the meeting a movie about the aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia "War 08.08.08. Art of betrayal" was screened.
The meeting was attended by journalists from Rising Nepal, Kathmandu Post, Weekly Mirror, People's Review and few representatives from radio and television.

Celebration of Defender of the Motherland (Soviet Army Day – 23 February) - 20th Feb.

To mark the Day of Army in Russia, Russian Centre of Science and Culture organized a painting exhibition and screening of documentary to the officers of Nepal army.
A total of 24 portraits of paintings were put on displayed that depict the ethnical faces of Nepalese people with vast cultural diversity. The portrait was sketch by the Russian Portrait specialist Alexey Balin.
Addressing the programme, Director of Russian Centre of Science and culture said the day of army in Russia is being celebrated by the people of all ages in Russia to paid honor to the army. “We are proud to celebrate the day of army in Russia coinciding with the day of army in Nepal that is going to celebrate in 23rd of February,” he said
Amidst the functions, he also shed light on the role of soviet Russian and Nepalese army in protecting the sovereignty of the respective countries.
The programme was followed by the documentary named “Operation Clear filed: South Ossetia” that depict the aggression of Georgia to south Ossetia.

A talk programme on "The role of National Language in forging links among mother languages" - 24th Feb.

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu Jointly organized a talk programme on "The role of National Language in forging links among mother languages" with United Nations Association of Nepal on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day (21 February) on 24th February 2009.
The chief guest of the program was Minister for Peace and State Reconstruction Gopal Kirati. During his speech he said that the state should be reconstructed under the basis of caste and federal autonomy to regulate the mother language of all ethnic minorities. He also added that the language and culture should be developed and promoted according to the geographical, cultural, economical and ethnical ways to preserve the mother language which are in verse of extinction.
President of UNESCO Association of Nepal Dambar Bir Thapa and Kamana Dixit of RCSC shed light about the importance of the role of national language in forging links among mother language.

Inauguration of "Saille Theatre" - 25th Feb.

A meeting was held between executive representatives of Nepal-Russia Friendship Association, "Mitra Kunj", RCSC press clubs members in 26th December 2008 at Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu.

On the same day, representatives from "Mitra Kunj" talked about the works and programs organized by the Association throughout the whole year. They also expressed their plans for the coming year 2009. They also elected new president of "Mitra Kunj" Mr. Bishnu Bahadur Singh. Mr. Singh was graduated from Russian Friendship University. He is an Electric Engineer. In his short speech, Mr. Singh stressed on the mission of "Mitra Kunj" to maintain the smooth relationship between the people of two nations and to provide the Nepali people with correct information about the foreign and internal policy of Russian Federation. President of Nepal visited RCSC Kathmandu - 26th Feb.

President of Nepal, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav visited Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu on 26th February and took part in the third national conference on "Early Childhood Development" jointly organized by Tribhuvan University, RCSC Kathmandu and INGOs.
Director of RCSC Kathmandu, Dr. Vladimir Novikov cordially welcomed Dr. Ram Baran Yadav in Russian Cultural Center. Dr. Novikov explained about the mission and objectives of the Russian center in Nepal. He also mentioned about the Year of Youth in Russia which is being celebrated in 2009.
In his opening address to the conference president noted that despite national and cultural backgrounds, different levels of economic development, most countries faced with similar problems of youth. Creating the conditions for education, employment, opportunities to participate in political life are essential prerequisites for the integration of young people in social processes.
The President and his entourage visited the photo exhibition launched in RCSC.
