A satirical program on "Those who Failed to Die"

Click to enlarge01 April 2008, Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Sisnupani Nepal jointly organized a satirical programme on "Those who Failed to Die" (Marna Nasakekaharu) on the 199th birth anniversary of Nokolai Gogol.
Delivering the welcome speech Director/ Counselor of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V. Novikov said that there is always a controversy over the origin of Nikolai Gogol either he is from Russia or Ukraine but the fact is that Gogol belongs to the world.. It’s a matter of pride to see people appreciating the works of Gogol here in Nepal and gather to paid tribute in his birth anniversary. 
The programme was started with the silence observation of those poets who failed to die by laughing. The Chief Guest of the programme was Nikolai Gogol himself.
Different poets recited the satirical poem at the programme on the incarnation of various late poets like Bhairav Aryal, Bhanubhakta Acharya, Bhupi ShClick to enlargeerchan, Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Shikharnath Subedi, Bhim Niddhi Tiwari, Shyam Gotame, Rajiv Lochan Joshi, Keshab Raj Pidali and Dataram Sharma. All the poems recited in the programme were based on political and social satire.
Speaking at the programme Associate Professor of Kathmandu University Jangam Chauhan said late Nikolai Gogol was a realistic critic writer. His satirical controversial play The Government Inspector made him to exile in Italy for 12 years, after his returned from Italy he became a critics of his own works.

Photo Exhibition to mark the year of family 2008 in Russia

Click to enlarge07 April 2008, General Secretary of the Parliamentary Secretariat Manohar Bhattarai Monday inaugurated a week long photo exhibition at Russian Centre of Science and Culture in course of celebrating the year of family 2008 in Russia, as declared by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The photographs in the exhibition depict the integration of family and motherhood aspects in Russia. A total of 45 photographs were put on displayed captured by the professional photographs of Russia.

Click to enlargeclared the year of family 2008 in Russia to give importance to the promotion of family values and to enhance support of young family and their unity in the society.
Similarly Monohar Bhattarari said that Nepal too should adopt such declaration at a time when the family is disintegrating in the society. Such declaration would help to emerge family values and there will be a less change of disintegration of family in the society if every one respects the social norms and values.
The exhibition remained open till next 15th April.

A musical program to mark the victory in the Great Patriotic War

Click to enlarge22 April 2008, A musical programme was organized on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and 100 years of Nepali Sugam Sangeet. The programme was jointly organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Shuvaramba: The Musical Journey.
The programme was started by observing one minute silence in memory of late poet and lyricist Ishwor Ballav.  Singers like Sailesh Singh and Prabin Barali sang the song of ever melodious songs like Mero Behosi Aaja, Para Laijau Phool Haru, Mero Dukhi Man originally sang by the prominent singers like Narayan Gopal, Deep Shre
Click to enlargestha, Shanta Thatal, Melwa Devi, Deepak Jangam and Prem Dhoj Pradhan. Most of the songs sang in the programme was composed by late Ishwor Ballav.  
Meanwhile poet Bairagi Kaila released the album "Sano Sansar amidst the function. The album was recomposed by Sailesh Singh.
Speaking at the programme, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Vladimir V Novikov said poets, lyricist and artists can play a crucial role in bridging the bilateral relation between Nepal and Russian. More >>

A programme “Hello Russia!” for the College students

Click to enlarge25 April 2008, Russian Centre of Science and Culture Friday organized a programme “Hello Russia!” for the College students of Kathmandu. The programme was organized to provide information about Russian language and culture to the students who are willing to pursue their higher education in Russia.

Click to enlargete of Russian University, highlighting the significance said that Russian language is like a mediator for interactions in the international arena.  He also mentioned about the popularity of Russian classic literature, about Russian political system and its role in the global relations, mentioned about Russian culture, tradition etc. He also said that today there are almost 300 million people in the world who speak Russian.
He said that learning Russian language is not only good preparation of language but also gives an opportunity to have higher study in Russia. More >>
