A visit to Nepal by Russian delegates - 8th April

A Click to enlargedelegation led by the president of Russian Society of Friendship and Cooperation (RSoFC) A. V. Soloviev visited Nepal from March 29 to April 8. The delegation was invited by the Nepal-Russia Friendship Association.
The delegation was welcomed by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Mr. A. L. Trofimov. They participated in several meetings organized by Nepal-Russia Friendship Association, Mitra Kunja, Nepal-Russia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation also participated in the week long education seminar organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture to provide information about the education system of Russia for the students yearning to study in Russia.
At the meeting, the delegation exchanged the role of RSoFC in the deClick to enlargevelopment of Russia -Nepal relations. They also discussed to provide training to Nepali youths in education and sports in the Russian educational institutions.
A. V. Solovyov suggested Nepalese companies to negotiate with the Russian hydropower companies to restore power supply system in Nepal.
Executive secretary of RSoFC, writer and journalist Dmitry Korolev met with a group of Nepalese writers and media representatives amidst the programme to talk about the scope and development of Russian literature.
The Russian delegation and the Nepalese Mountaineering Association reached to the consensus to provide help in climbing the Mount Elbrus in August 2009 to mark the 180th anniversary of the first conquest of the Mount Elbrus and the Year of Youth in Russia 2009.

Performance of Russian actress in RCSC Kathmandu 10th April

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu and the AssociationClick to enlarge of Russian Compatriots "Ivushka" jointly organized a meeting with Russian theater and cinema actress Oksana M. Stashenko on 10th April.
A well known actress, Oksana M. Stashenko has acted in so many television dramas and cinemas like “Advocate”, “The Return of Mukhtar”, “Relatives”, “Sem`raz otmer”. She spent more than a decdes in the Russian theatre “Benefice”.
During her conversation she spoke about her career, some peculiarities of the creation of television serials and specific of working in theater and cinema.

Solo Musical Performance to mark the Year of Youth in Russia 2009 - 17th April

A solo musical programme was jointly organized by Russian Center of Science and Culture and Ranga Nepal to mark the Year of Youth in Russia 2009 on 17th April .
On the occasion Singer Shishir Yogi performed his first solo stage performance. Yogi, who originally hails from Dang District, crooned 17 songs from his albums Pahichan and Aakarsan, which were all, composed by musician Raju Singh.
The chief guests were renowned Nepalese musician Ambar Gurung and lyricist Ratna Samsher Thapa.
While opening the program, Mr. Arseny Starkov, programme coordinator of Russian Centre of Science and Culture, welcomed the artists & guests and said a few words about the Year of Youth in Russia 2009. He also described the major activities of RCSC and he requested all the guests to visit the official website (www.russiancultureinnepal.org) of RCSC in order to get detailed information.

Orthodoxy Easter celebrated in Nepal - 24th April

It has become a tradition to celebrate Easter in Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu and Russian Embassy in Nepal from last many years. Click to enlarge
On this year, the celebration of Orthodoxy Easter officially started on 19th April and true believers were gathered in the praying hall at RCSC Kathmandu.
Giving continuity to the tradition, a representative from Russian church visited Nepal and attended in religious ceremonies. A solemn prayer, rituals of confession, baptism ceremony and blessing of water were done together. The same rituals ceremony was also organized at the Embassy of Russia in Nepal.
It was decided to send a request letter to the Moscow central church for the registration of the Orthodox community in Nepal.

Russian Cultural Center participated in food festival - 25th April

Goethe Institute Kathmandu organized a multi-national food festival in association witClick to enlargeh Russian Center of Science & Culture and other organizations on 25th April at Goethe Institute, Thapathali, Kathmandu. German, Russian, Nepalese and Indonesian traditional cuisine had been presented during the festival. German grilled sausages, potato salad, Bavarian Beer were presented by the German organizer. Similarly Russian traditional salad, pancakes and Russian beverage "Kvas" were other attractions of the festival. During the program Nepalese and Indonesian participants were also able to make crowd in their stalls with their popular and favourite dishes.
RCSC Kathmandu and the Association of Russian Compatriots in Nepal "Ivushka" presented a photo exhibition on the occasion of Year of Youth in Russia 2009 and also organized a handicraft exhibition at Goethe Institute.
The event was attended by representatives from different diplomatic missions and Nepalese guests from different social institutions.
Such programs play a vital role to strengthen the bilateral relationships between the nations.

The Prime Minister of Nepal visited RСSC Kathmandu - 28th April

The Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) visited Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu on 28th April.
Director of RCSC Kathmandu, Dr. Vladimir Novikov cordially welcomed Mr. Dahal in Russian Cultural Center. Dr. Novikov explained about the mission and objectives of the Russian center in Nepal. The Prime Minister and his entourage visited the photo exhibitions launched in RCSC.
A documentary show "The flame of snow", which was about the ten difficult years of Nepal was screened at the auditorium of RCSC.
Prime Minister Dahal was accompanied by Minister of Finance, Minister of Defense and Minister of Peace and Reconstruction in Nepal.

Talk programme on "The end of World War II in the far East" - 30th April

Russian Center of Science and Culture Kathmandu organized a talk programme on "The end of World War II in the far East" at Nepal Army Staff College on April 30th at Nepal Army Headquarters to mark the 64th victory anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.
Director of RCSC, Dr. Vladimir V. Novikov delivered a lecture on the topic highlighting the main courses of military actions of World War II in details. He also explained about the battle between Soviet Union and Japan. After his speech he answered a large number of questions from the participants on this topic.
The programme was attended by most of the senior officers of the Army Staff College.
During the program, Dr. Novikov awarded the St. George Ribbon (One of the most recognised and respected symbols of military valour in modern Russia) to the coordinator of Army Staff College, Colonel S. Giri, which will be transferred to the Army Museum of Nepal.
