"Russia and Nepal through the lens of Russian artists" - Photo Exhibition - 1st October

 AClick to enlarge photo exhibition "Russia and Nepal through the lens of Russian artists" by Nadezhda Neupokoeva (St. Petersburg) and Valeriy Garkal (Moscow) starts on 1st October 2008 in RCSC Kathmandu.

The exhibited pictures were very close to the Russian traditions of classical painting, water colour and graphics drawing. Pictures on display were taken through the lens without any computer effects.

Minister for General Administration Pamfa Bhusal inauguClick to enlargerated the month long photo exhibition. Speaking at the programme Minister Bhusal said the attempts of Russian artists to show their creativity in Nepal is praiseworthy. Lauding on the bilateral relationship between Nepal and Russia, she said both the countries had faced various political upheaval to restore peace and bring change in the country. “Though the countries share vast difference in economic aspects but both are rich in their historical and cultural aspects,” she said.   More >>

Literary and Musical evening - 2nd October

Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Russian Compatriots, Nepal Click to enlargeRussia Literary Association and Suvaramva, the Musical Journey jointly organized a solo poetry recitation programme by well known Nepali poet Dr. Rajendra Bhandari on 2nd October 2008.

Well-known poet in Nepal and India Mr. Rajendra Bhandari was the chief guest of the program. At the programme poet Bhandari reClick to enlargecited the dozens of poems penned by himself in the center's auditorium hall. Similarly various noted poets like Manjul, Shrawan Mukarung, Sailesh Singh and Geeta Tripathi also recited the poems penned by Bhandari.

Meanwhile few poems penned by renowned Russian poets Puskhin, Lermontov, Tiuthev were recited in Russian and Nepali languages and also sang few songs based on Pushkin poetry.

After the literary part of the program, the program was continued by a concert performed by few Nepalese artists.  More >>

Russian Film Festival in Pokhara - 8th October

Russian Centre of Science and Culture in collaboration with Federation of Nepalese JClick to enlargeournalist Pokhara, Pokhara Film Society and Mitra Kunj Pokhara Chapter organized a Pokhara film festival on October 8 coinciding with the great festival Dashain.

On the opening day of the festival, a movie named ‘Anna karenina’ based on the story of late Leo Tolstoy was screened. The festival was followed by various other romantic and war movies.

Although the story of Anna karenina is not autobiographical, it deeply reflects Tolstoy’s own beliefs and his desire to impart his beliefs to others.

At the programme General Secretary of Federation of Nepalese Journalists Pokhara Deependra Shrestha, Dr Dhiraj Dube of Mitrakunj of Pokhara Chapter said such events would help to enhance the bilateral relation between Russia and Nepal.

They also assured to organize cultural and literature programme in days to come in Pokhara. More >>

Gift to the children of Nepal - 20th October

TClick to enlargehe Director of the Rusian Centre of Scinece and Culture Dr. Vladimir Novikov with his official visited Bal Mandir at Naxal and held a goodwill meeting with the Chairperson of the Nepal Children’s Organization Rita Singh Vaidya and her colleagues and children of the Bal Mandir .

At the programme Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture presented a pair of dolls to the President of Nepal Children Organisation Rita Singh Vaidhya. A pair of dolls was sent by children of a kinder garden of Moscow as a token of friendship for the children of Bal Mandir, Kathmandu. The doll depicts the festive dresses of the folk of Moscow (end of VII Century – bClick to enlargeeginning of VIII Century).

President Vaidhya highlighting on the existing problems at NCO said that despite financial deprivation, the organisation is being running with the help of donors and INGOS.

Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov informed about the situation of Russian Orphan children and the problems and procedure in adopting Russian orphans.

Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Children Organisation, at Bal Mandir, Naxal are going to organize painting exhibition drawn by the Russian Orphans entitled “Children Draws Cosmos” near future. More >>

Meeting with the members of Nepalese women expedition team in RCSC - 23rd October

First Inclusive Women Sagarmatha Expedition (a team of ten women moClick to enlargeuntaineers) who scaled the Mt Everest Summit on May 25 shared their experiences and challenges prior and after scaling the summit, Thursday 23 October.

The objective of the expedition inspired the team to train, work and create opportunities in tourism industry of Nepal, they shared.

Congratulating the team, Director of Russian Centre of Science and CultClick to enlargeure Dr Vladimir V Novikov said it’s really a great achievement for women to climb the top of the world. In the query of, Dr Novikov, they said they would utilize their knowledge and experience on women empowerment, environment climate change and education.

At the programme they also presented their group photo of expedition to the Director Dr Vladimir V Novikov. Dr Novikov assured them to communicate with the Russian Mountaineering Association in Moscow for the promotion of mountain tourism in Nepal and exchange of their visits.

Russian photo artiest ‘Nadezhda’ invited them to Russia to participate in the adventure of Youth Mountain Association of Russia.

A talk program on "A strong United Nations for Global Peace"
- 24th October

Minister for foreign affairs Upendra Yadav said that United Nations must continue to plaClick to enlargey a central role not in the maintenance of international peace and security and the promotion of social-economic development but also in the general conduct of international relations by making more representative, reflective, transparent, effective and efficient.

“Nepal’s continued and dedicated participation in the UN peacekeeping efforts is a clear reflection of the unflinching commitment to the objectives and ideals of the UnitClick to enlargeed Nations” Yadav stated. In a talk with the Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov, Minister Yadav said for the consolidation of the relation between Russian and Nepal as it was with then Soviet Union.

Literary evening at RCSC Kathmandu to remember poet Devkota - 27th October

A literary evening was organized at RCSC in Kathmandu to commemorate the greatest Nepalese poet, the Minister of education in Nepal in the 50's, Laxmi Prasad Devkota (1909 - 1959). Dr. Jangab Chauhan, well-known Nepalese writer, Professor of Kathmandu University, was the one who opened the program. In his speech, he described the poet's life and work in details. Devkota had visited several cities of Russia. The poet has written more than 50 books. His works have been translated into many foreign languages, including the Russian. At the end of his life, he had a severe health problem (cancer) and he was treated by few Moscow Doctors during that time. So we can say that his life was rather close to Russia. More >>>

A literary program “life and works of Dostoyevsky”
- 31st October

Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Russia literary Association jointly organized a literary programme named “life and works of Dostoyevsky” to paid tribute to Russian littérateur Fydor Dostoyevsky. Addressing the welcome speech Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Dr Vladimir V Novikov said Dostoyevksy works reflect the sentiments of human reality adding that his contribution in the work of literature is still familiar all over the world. Speaking at the programme, Professor of Kathmandu University Jangam Chauhan shedding light on the works and contribution of Dostoyevksy said the world of literature remain incomplete without remembering the contribution of Dostoyevksy. The programme was followed by the documentary of Fydor Dostoyevsky that reflects his works and contribution in world Literature. More >>>
