Knowledge Day in Kathmandu - 1st September

RCSC meeting with Partner Organizations - 2nd September

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu organized a discussion Click to enlargemeeting with the executive members of its partner organizations on September 2 at RCSC.
The meeting was based on the joint project going to be held in the coming days. At the meeting they discussed on the preparatiClick to enlargeon in celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Russian Cultural Center. The participants also shared the plan of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
The meeting was attended by former minister of Environment, Science & Technology Mr. Ganesh Shah, President of Mitrakunj (Association of Russian and CIS Universities graduates) Vishnu Bahadur Singh, President of the Nepal-Russia Friendship Society B. Tuladhar, heads of several NGOs, representatives from the Academy of Science and Technology of Nepal and Kathmandu University.

Kathmandu says Hello to Moscow - 4th September

Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu held a gala evening dedicated to the Day of Moscow with a title “Kathmandu says Hello to Moscow” on 4th September 2009.
Director of RCSC Nepal Dr. Vladimir Novikov welcomed the participants and talked about the history of the Capital of Russia and also gave brief introduction of present Moscow. During the programme members of the Association of Russian compatriots in Nepal “Ivushka” and few young Nepali artists took part in the concert.
To mark this day, A. Balin, a Russian portraitist drew portraits of the several participants who wanted to have the memory of the meeting in the RCSC which memorized the famous Arbat Street in Moscow.

International Literacy Day in Nepal - 8thSeptember

Russian Center of Science & Culture organized a talk programme on “Russia – the History, CultClick to enlargeure & Language” to mark the International Literacy Day on 8th September 2009. The programme was attended by the students and teachers of several colleges of Kathmandu.
Program Coordinator of RCSC Nepal, A. Starkov informed about the Russian language, geography, history of Russia and traditions of Russian people.
Click to enlarge President of “Mitrakunj” Mr. Vishnu Bahadur Singh shared his experience during his education tenure in Russia and the importance of learning Russian language while studying in Russian Universities.
General Secretary of “Mitrakunj” Mr. N. Pradhan pointed out the similarities in the lexical roots of the Russian language and Sanskrit. He also asked Nepalese youth to study Russian languages and promised to help in providing scholarship for deserving students.

A fabulous cultural program in RCSC - 16thSeptember

A fabulous cClick to enlargeultural program – 2066 was jointly organized by Nepal Folkforic Foundation and Russian Center of Science & Culture on the auspicious occasion of Nepalese Great Festival “Dashain” on 16th September 2009 at RCSC Auditorium. The programme was also supported by the Nepal-Russia Cultural Association.
Different Nepalese cultural dances including Tharu, Satar, Newar were performed during the programme. They performed their cultural programme in their own cultural attire. People were mesmerized by the folk songs performed in the programme.

Recitation of Laghukatha (Short Story) at RCSC - 18thSeptember

A Laghukatha (short story) recitation programme was orgnaised jointly of Press Click to enlargeClub, Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Laghukatha Samaj Nepal on 18th September Friday.
Laghukatha (short story) from 14 countries were recited on the occasion. The writers of Laghukatha (short story) called for recognizing Laghukatha (short story) as a separate genre and incorporate it into curriculum.
Critic and litterateurs Mahesh Prasai said it was situation not the character that dominated the Laghukatha (short story). Their Laghukatha (short story) dealt with contemporary issues and poked at social and political anomalies.
