A Literary programme to mark the 130th birth Anniversary of the Russian writer Alexander Grin - 4th August

A literary evening was organized to mark the 130th birth Anniversary of the Russian writer Alexander Grin. The programme was jointly organized by RCSC and Nepal Russia Literary Association.
In the programme Prof of KU & Vice president of Nepal-Russia Literary Association Prof. Dr. Jangab Chauhan shed light on the life & works of the writer.
General Secretary of Nepal-Russia Literary Association Mr. Gyanuwaker Poudel delivered his welcome speech.

An interaction programme on "Challenges of Youth Today" - 11th August

An interaction programme on "Challenges of Youth Today" was held at the RCSC organized by Russian Centre of Science and Culture and HIMCCA on the occasion of the International Youth Day.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest of the function Dr. Ganesh Bahadur Gurung, Member of the National Planning Commission said, "There are so many opportunities for the youth in our country but the youth should understand how to grab it".

Inter College Essay Competition - 12th August

On the occasion of International Youth Day, Sewa Nepal organized an Essay competition at Columbus College. Many students from different colleges participated in that programme. The main topic of the essay was "Role of the youth towards food security in Nepal". Prize distribution programme was also organized at RCSC to the students who took part in essay completion on 12 August. Sewa Nepal is a non profitable organization. Nowadays Sewa works in the field of food security. More >>

Orientation workshop on "Free & Open Source Software (FOSS)" - 17th August

Russian Center of Science & Culture organized a one-day Orientation workshop on Free & Open Source Software (FOSS) in coordination with FOSS Nepal Community and Brush-Up Online on 17 August 2010 at Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu.
Welcoming the participants, Kamana Dixit from RCSC spoke about the recent IT programme conducted by Russian Center of Science & Culture. Sushil Upreti gave an outline of the workshop to the participants. Laxman Pokhrel from Brush-Up online gave a brief description about the education web portal www.brushuponline.edu.np.

Inter-School/College Chess Competition in RCSC Kathmandu - 18th August

Russian Center of Science and Culture Kathmandu organized aClick to enlarge two-day Inter-School/College Chess competition between the students of schools colleges in Kathmandu to mark the 85th Anniversary of Rossotrudnichestvo. The programme was jointly organized by Ambition Academy on 18 and 19 August in RCSC Kathmandu.
Ambition Academy, Jaya Multiple Campus, Gyanodaya Higher Secondary School, Global College, Manakamana Higher Seconday School and Mhanu Mhakta Memorial High School had participated in the competition.

Press Conference at RCSC Kathmandu - 20th August

AClick to enlarge press conference was organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture for the Everest Women Seven Summits Eco-Action, a Nepali team of nine women which is leaving for Moscow on August 24, 2010 on an attempt to scale the Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe.
Welcoming the press the director of the RCSC Mr. Stanislav Simakov gave a short briefing about the delegation and said that their mission to climb the Mount Elbrus in Russia will certainly help to promote the relations between the peoples of our two countries. He expressed his best wishes for the success of their Mt. Elbrus Expedition and the mission of 7- summit scaling.

A lecture programme on "History of the State Symbols of Russia" - 26th August

OClick to enlargen 26 August on the occasion of the Day of State Flag of the Russian Federation a programme was organized at "Global College” the largest colleges in Kathmandu. Staff from RCSC Kathmandu organized a lecture on “History of the State Symbols of Russia".
On this day, the conference hall of the Global college was visited by Senior students and teachers from several secondary schools of Kathmandu valley. The programme officer Mrs Kamana Dixit spoke out about he detailed history of the Day of State Flag of Russia. The participations actively asked questions about the meaning of the colures of the flag.

A drama show "Ghar Apat Ho Apat" - 27th August

On August 27 at the stage of the RCSC “Shailee Theatre performed Click to enlargethe drama based on Anton Chekhov’s story and translated by Madan Mani Dixit “Ghar Apat Ho Apat”
The programme was attended by writers, actors, journalists & the representatives of the Ministry of Culture & peoples from different sectors.
Before the play the Director of Shailee Theatre Mr. Nawaraj Buddhathoki with his introductory remarks said the goals & objectives of the theatrical group and also quoted Chekhov “If in the first act on stage hangs a gun, in the latter it should shoot.

Programme to commemorate the battle of Kursk - 27th August

RCSC orgClick to enlargeanized a programme to commemorate the battle of Kursk on the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War(1941-1945) on August 27th 2010.
On the occasion Programme Coordinator Mr. Arseny Starkov presented the slideshow about the battle of Kursk.
The film was followed by a film" The cranes are flying”.
The event was attended by representatives of “Abhiyan” an Association of filmmakers & actors, students from different colleges and journalists.

An interaction programme to mark the National Library Day - 31st August

Click to enlargeOn the occasion of the National Library Day of Nepal, RCSC Kathmandu jointly with Nepal Library Association organized an interaction programme at the Russian Library Kamal Pokhari.
On the programme chief guest was Former Minister Mr. Ganesh Shah in his speech he said that such type of programme will give the knowledge & information to understand the importance of the library. And he was so much grateful to RCSC Kathmandu that the centre always gives the chance to do such programme.
Mr. Sitaram P. Byahut Associate professor of Physics from Tribhuvan University presented the slideshow on the importance & the challenges of the library in Nepal. More >>
