The Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kathmandu has been operating in Nepal since 1979. The Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kathmandu moved to a new building at Kamal Pokhari in 1993. The Centre has gained popularity among citizens of Nepal particularly residents of Kathmandu Metropolitan City as a bridge of friendship between the peoples of Nepal and Russia with two way traffic.
