To mark the 'International Children's Day' on 1st June, Russian Culture Centre in Kathmandu organized an exhibition of Russian Children's painting on 'Diversity of Nature' in 'Jaycees Higher Secondary School' in Bhaktapur. Besides, a Russian film was also screened as the part of the programme. The film was appropriate for the students of senior and junior classes as well.
'Jaycees HSS' is considered as one of the oldest school in Nepal. Nevertheless, the Principal, T.B Gongah who is also the Chairman of the Nepal-Russia Literary society said that the School has been able to maintain a friendly relationship with the RCSC.
In the opening ceremony, Arseny Starkov of RCSC spoke about the importance of celebrating Children's Day which also observed 60 years in Russia and CIS countries. He further added that with the beginning of summer vacation in the first of June in Russia, many schools organize various competitions in sports and also screen feature films and so on.
In response, Mr. T. B. Gong appreciated the effort of RCSC in arranging such a programme and was thankful to the organizer. He siad that it not only entertained the students but enlightened them too. Mr. Gongah ended his speech with a hopeful note that he was looking forward for events like this in future.
Notably, during the exhibition the State Commission visited 'Jaycee HSS' for Supervision of schools. The members of the Commission highly appreciated RCSC for its initiative of organizing such programmes in other educational institutions as well which is very inivitable.
During the 4 days of the exhibition, that incorporated more than 40 children's work, was visited by thousands of people. The attraction was limited not only to students but even parents and teachers seemed equally interested. At a special request, the exhibition was extender for another three days.
The event was a successful one and received coverage in local media.
