People to People, Nepal Anniversary Celebration Organizing Committee and Russian Center of Science & Culture jointly organized a talk programme on “The End of World War II: Participation of Nepalese Soldiers” to mark the 65th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) on March 16 at RCSC Kathmandu.
The chief guest of the function was Honorable Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister of Energy. Other guests of the programme were Damber Bir Thapa (President of People to People), President of Nepal National Army Ex-Servicemen Association Retd. General Shree Dhar Shamsher Rana and Retd. General Krishna Narayan Singh Thapa and Prof. Dr. Jitendra Dhoj Khad.
Dr. Vladimir Novikov, Director of RCSC Kathmandu shed light on the end of the Great Patriotic War, the decisive contribution of the Soviet Union in the defeat of Hitler's fascism and the victorious conclusion of the war in Europe.
Retd. Gen Krishna Narayan Singh Thapa talked about the role of Gorkha Army in the World War II. Other Nepalese speakers of the programme spoke about the great contribution of Soviet Union Army and numerous casualties in World War II. It is also mentioned that after the cold war, a new world was established which was based on international law, democracy and human rights.
RCSC also organized a photo exhibition devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War on the same day. The function was covered in several local media.
