15th Jul 2010, Photo Exhibition on "Civil and Navy Fleet in Russia"
July 15, 2010, Kathmandu. The Russian Centre of Science and Culture organized a photo exhibition on "Civil and Navy Fleet in Russia" to mark the day of Military Maritime Fleet of Russia. In the exhibition various photos containing  Russian civilian and military fleet depicting its cycle of development in Russia.

Delivering the welcome address the Director of the RCSC Mr. Stanislav Simakov said that though the origins of the Russian navy could go back to the period between the 4th and the 6th century, when Early East Slavs were engaged in a struggle against the Byzantine Empire,the regular Russian Navy was established by Peter the Great (Peter I) in October of 1696.
The exhibition was inaugurated lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest of the function General (Ret) Shreedhar Shamsher Rana, Chairman of the Celebration Committee for 65th Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945)  and the Patron of the Nepal National Ex-Army Servicemen Association, and Honorary Vice President of World Veterans Federation.

The Chief Guest General Rana appreciated the role of the RCSC for its initiative in promotion of cultural relations between Nepal and Russia, and said such exhibition would give valuable information on history and development activities of the country.

The programme was followed by the Russian feature film show “the Destiny of a Man”.

The programme was attended by the Former Minister of Environment, Science and Technology Ganesh Shah, Prof. Dr. Krishna Bahadur Thapa, President of History Association of Nepal, Brig. General Digambar S. Rana, President of Nepal National Ex-Army Servicemen Association, Prof. Dambar Bir Thapa, President of U. N.  Association of Nepal, Mr. Hiranya Lal Shrestha, Former Nepalese Ambassador to Russia and other distinguished persons.
Number of audiences were 70.

Electronic and print media such as Tarai Television, the Republica, the Mulyankan covered the event for the their respective media.

The exhibition will continue for 2 weeks.
