Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu organized a preparation meeting to mark the 65th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and the end of World War II on 14 January. The meeting was attended by the heads of the leading partner NGOs, and journalists.
During the meeting, participants discussed on organizing a series of joint programs dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory Day and the end of World War II. Addressing the meeting, Director of RCSC Dr. Vladimir Novikov talked about the traditions of celebrating this important occasion in Russia. He also talked how the Russian Federation is going to organize different programs to mark this day and also added that this Victory Day will be celebrated with Allies countries and other friends of Russia around the world in this year 2010. Dr. Novikov emphasized on some attempts to falsify the history of World War II and gave some idea about the real scenario of WWII.
The member of the Organizing Committee includes representatives from “Mitrakunj”, the Nepal Council of World Affairs, United Nations Association in Nepal, Nepal-Russia Friendship Association, Russian Compatriots "Ivushka". This committee is co-chaired by Russia's ambassador to Nepal, A.L. Trofimov and chairman of the Association of veterans of the Nepalese Army, Vice president of the International Association of Veterans of the Second World War, General B. Rana.
