5th Jun 2010, Youth Conference in RCSC Kathmandu
The first national Youth Conference was held at Russian Culture Centre on June, 5th. The event was organized to coincide with 'World Environment Day' to observe the day by discussing environmental issues that nudge our conscience. 

The Conference was organized by the 'Himalayan Alliance on Climate Change ' of RSCS in Nepal, the representatives of UNESCO in Nepal and the Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian universities 'Mitra Kunja'.

The opening ceremony was attended by vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission of Nepal, Dr. D. C. Pokharel, former Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Nepal, A. Plata Shah, the head of the UNESCO Office in Nepal, and significant young scientists from Nepal and other countries. 
 
Prior to the conference participants - scientists and experts in the field of ecology, a speech was made by the Director of RSCS, Stanislav Simakov. He spoke about the steps that Russia has taken to protect the environment, how the denizens of our country are struggling with the consequences of global climate change, reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. He added the conspicuous participation of Russian youth in international environmental projects. 
 
Head of the UNESCO Office in Nepal A. Plata warned us about the environmental threats that face humanity everywhere. He was hopeful that with time, people would be aware of the consequences and that the younger generation will be able to take a responsible approach to resolving problems associated with preservation of the environment. 

During the conference, Nepalese and foreign scholars, discussed and addressed many important topics including the following: 'The consequences of pollution on the planet and in particular on the Himalayas Projects and Technology ', 'Unpredictable Climate Change' , ' Possible Effects of Global Warming', 'Extreme Sensitivity of Mountain Glaciers of Nepal to Climate Change ','Results of the UN summit in Copenhagen on Climate Change', ' Action on Third World Countries' and others. A total of 80 reports were discussed accompanied by slides and video presentations. 

As a result of the conference, a document was signed the "Declaration Youth for Environmental Protection Kathmandu 2010". Delegates met with service "International Youth Forum" Seliger 2010 ". 
 
The conference was attended by over 700 people. Action in a RCSC has received extensive coverage in local media.
