Two weeks-long Russia-Nepal Mountain photo exhibition is being displayed at the Russian Center of Science and Culture to mark the International Mountain Day. Buddhist Lama from Dolpa, Dolpu Tulku Lama inaugurated the Mountain exhibition on 14 December. The exhibition comprises more than two dozen of photos from Nepal and Russia.
Dolpa district of Nepal is located in north-western of Nepal on the spaces of the Tibetan Plateau at an altitude of over 3000 meters and is inhabitants of approximately 14,000 Nepalese Tibetan Buddhists. The main treasure of Dolpa is “Yarsha Gumba (a combination of insect and plant remains inactive in winter and comes out in summer)”, which is widely used in Chinese medicine. The cost of this plant is nearly 15,000 dollars per kilogram.
Director of RCSC Kathmandu, Dr. Vladimir Novikov gave detail information about all the activities of Russian Cultural Center.
During the conversation, Buddhist Lama told about the problems of the Nepalese people of Tibet and the role of Buddhism in their daily lives.
Dr. Vladimir Novikov told the guest about the photo exhibition on “Russian Republic Kalmykiya” which was organized to mark the 400 years since the southern steppe-dwelling Kalmyk people pledged allegiance to Russia. He also provided brief information about Buddhism in Russia, Buddhist centers in Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church.
In memory of this visit to the RCSC, Dr. Novikov offered an album of the photos and views of the northern capital of Russia - St. Petersburg.
