Russian Center of Science & Culture Kathmandu / Mission of Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo (www.rs-gov.ru) in Nepal organized a celebration programmed dedicated to the 65th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) on 15 May at RCSC. A slide presentation on “The Blockade / Siege of Leningrad” was presented by the members of Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu. On the same day, 100 Birth Anniversary of the Great Russian Poetess Olga Berggolts was marked by inauguration of photo exhibition on her life and works. She wrote most of her poems during the war time. During the program, Russian compatriots recited many of her poems along with her well-known words "... no one is forgotten and nothing is forgotten".
On this Saturday afternoon almost all the Russian compatriots working and living in Kathmandu, as well as employees of the Russian embassy and representatives of other Russian foreign organizations in Nepal were gathered in Russian Cultural Center Kathmandu to celebrate this historical day.
Chairman of the Association of Russian Compatriots in Nepal “Ivushka” Alla Sharma and Russian compatriots told about the incidents that happened with their parents and relatives during the war time. They also recited different wartime songs and poems. A documentary film “Not a woman’s business” was also screened in RCSC auditorium. The film was about the hard life of women who participated in the war.
Children from Russian-Nepalese families taking the courses of Russian language in RCSC presented a musical concert. They also participated in a drawing exhibition on the theme “We need peace”. All the participants of the programme were awarded the “Georgievskaya Ribbon”.
After the official part of the program, participants were offered all kinds of National Russian cuisine, prepared by the Russian women. The programme was attended by more than 60 people. The event was featured in the electronic media.
