A literary programme was held on June 22 for the students of the "Ambition Academy" to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the 'Victory of the Great Patriotic War' (1941-1945) as well as the 100th Anniversary of a prominent literary figure 'Tvardovsky'. The day was dedicated as the 'Day of Remembrance and Sorrow'.
The programme, organized by Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kathmandu, was attended by the the Director of the college, Mr. D. Ghimire, teachers and the students from 9 – 10 grade.
The programme was followed by a photo exhibition (Photo-documentary) of the great patriotic writer 'Tvardovsky' which encompassed even his rare and casual photographs with his family, friends and colleagues.
The audience was informed not only about the life at the front, the challenges involved but the exertion of great sacrifice and devotion of people at war was also highlighted. Meanwhile, one of the students recited an extract from the poem "Vasily Terkin”. In addition, some students recited self-composed poems.
A Russian film show "Only Old Men Are Going To War” which also dealt with the theme of the 'Great Patriotic War” was screened. The event was attended by over 100 people. Information about the literary program was posted in the electronic media.
